BUDGET:
Current ‘leaders’ claim State Budget is flat, but actual total state spending has increased over 40% from 2019 to 2023!
Reduce or eliminate “unclassified” spending in the state budget.
Limit the size of the budget to the rate of inflation & population growth.
Eliminate Equipment & Inventory Tax to attract new businesses and also allow current businesses to grow.
State Income Tax:
Folk says if you have additional revenue available, give it back to the people in the form of an increased standard exemption on their income.
“We need to do something, for example, to increase the exemption for State Income tax, it hasn’t been done for a while.” This exemption helps everyone but helps those who are low-income earners even more.
Social Security Tax:
Mike Folk believes the Social Security tax is one of the most egregious forms of taxation.
“It’s a concrete principle, in my mind, that instead of trying to find places to spend money from additional revenue, we find ways to give back — where it’s based on an ideological sound philosophical principle that we shouldn’t be double taxing people.”
